How You Can Treat Facial Spider Veins

Veingogh is a relatively new treatment used to effectively eliminate spider veins.

Facial veins, often referred to as spider veins are broken capillaries that occur just beneath the skin’s surface. Common causes are ageing, sun damage, alcohol consumption or inflammatory skin conditions. Women are more susceptible to these broken capillaries due to childbirth, pregnancy and hormonal shifts such as menopause.

For some, these veins are a cause of cosmetic concern, however, the good news is that there are treatments that can reduce and sometimes eliminate their appearance. One of these treatments is known as Veingogh.

What is Veingogh?

Veingogh is a clever play on words and refers to a fairly new vein treatment. The treatment utilises microburst technology to eliminate small spider veins and is commonly used on the face. Veingogh is a device that uses a process known as Ohmic Thermolysis that produces high frequency energy to the tip of a hair thin probe. The Veingogh treatment is not the same as laser treatment for veins.

How does Veingogh work?

When the microburst is emitted, it dissipates so quickly that only heat is generated. The heat is delivered to the vessel via a hair thin probe and instantly coagulates the blood and collapses the vessel wall, which is then absorbed by the body. The probe is placed below the epidermis to effectively target the unwanted spider veins. The needle directs the heat downward toward the vessel the outer layers of the skin are unaffected.

The Veingogh treatment is relatively quick, though treatment time does depend on the size of the area affected. Treatment for a small spider vein can be as quick as two minutes! For a more extensive issue, the procedure can last up to 25 minutes.

The Veingogh treatment offers minimal discomfort with results being evident almost instantly and you will see continuous improvement over the space of several weeks. There will be some redness after the procedure – don’t let this scare you off – this will go away after a few hours.

Since the procedure is short and precise, there is very little risk of over-treating or trauma to your skin. You should avoid sun exposure for five days post-treatment, if this is not possible; it is recommended that you use a high SPF on the treated area for the next few days.

Veins that have been properly treated using Veingogh can be permanently eliminated. It should be noted that other veins might appear over time, so you may need a touch-up appointment in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments are needed?

In general, you would only require one treatment. However depending on the specific condition, you may need a follow up treatment.

Does Veingogh only treat spider veins?

No. The Veingogh procedure can also be used to treat cherry angiomas, small hemangiomas, skin tags, spider nevi, and even the redness of rosacea.

On what size vein does Veingogh work best?

VeinGogh works best on spider veins up to 0.3mm. It is not used to treat larger veins or feeder veins that are situated deep beneath the surface of your skin. Veingogh is best suited for smaller and more superficial spider veins.
